MPDA Club Event Safety Rules - Bylaw # 14.

 

1.     Training, hunting or working of dogs outside of your allotted turn to participate in the club event is not permitted.

 

2.     Dogs must be collared, leashed, and under control at all times except during your turn to participate in the event.

 

3.     Birds that leave the “bird field” or escape from our pen are to remain unbothered until the event is over and the trial chairman permits the cleanup of the birds.

 

4.     At the end of your allotted event time, your dog must be brought under control, collared and leashed. It is not permitted to hunt, train or work our dog on the way back to the starting area.  The field must be vacated in the shortest reasonable time.

 

5.     Participants and judges in the field during club events must wear a blaze orange hat or vest.

 

6.     Gunners must keep muzzle in safe direction 100% of the time.  Swinging across galleries is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.  The trail chairman shall designate “SAFETY SHOOTING” zones and/or “NO SHOOTING” zones to ensure spectator and property safety.

 

7.     Gunners must use light loads Size 7 1/2 or smaller shot only.

 

8.     Firearm actions must remain open until your dog establishes point.

 

9.     The shooting of birds on the ground is not permitted except at judge’s request.

 

10. Running on the field is not permitted.

 

11. The maximum number of people on the field shall be limited to 6 people per brace or 3 people per dog.

 

12. The minimum age of persons permitted on the field before, during, or after an event shall be 10 years of age and under the direct Adult supervision.  A gunner must be 16 years of age and be in possession of the necessary valid firearms certificate.

 

13. The use of drugs or alcohol at club events is not permitted.

 

14. Safety rules must be reviewed with event participants prior to start of event.
