Fausto Man's the Launcher at a casual weekend get together. Fausto Shooting clays with friend Colin Stone manning the launcher.  Ken Wight gets ready to act as backup in case Fausto misses...consequently I couldn't miss that day.  If only I had this kind of luck all the time!

Dana, webmaster's wife, takes aim as Ken coaches her.  Patches is steady to flush, even with all the commotion. Blair, Ron Marykuca's 12 month old GSP, on an intense point.  Photo by Craig Koshyk.

April 25th, 2004 "Spring has Sprung!" fun shoot

Morning meeting with field coordinator Ken Wight, Brian Bunkowsky, and the rest of the MPDA crew.

Cars and canines...waiting for their chance to run in the field.

Mitch Drives truck on field as we go out and plant birds for the next brace.

Ron and Fausto in the back of Mitch's truck planting birds.

Brian Bunkowsky, a new member and his certified pointing lab "Pump".

Pump hits bird sent and hits the breaks hard!

Pump on Point again.

Pump with a nice retrieve.  Notice how he waits for Brian to say "Give/Out".

Nicky and Dell, "The Drahthaar Duo", on point as Erich approaches planted bird.

Nicky is torn.  Do I eat the bird or give it to Erich?

Dell backs Nicky on another point.  Where's Erich when you need him? We know Herb's got the camera!

Close up of Nicky on point.

Dell on an Intense point!

Sadie calmly waits her turn in the field.

Patches anxious to hit the field.  Did someone say I am next?

Sadie and Patches hit the field hard and fast.  Fausto Chepil walks out into the field with them.

RRV NAVHDA Fun Shoot at Thompson's Hunting Preserve Barnsville, MN - April 17, 2004

Some of the Red River Valley NAVHDA members with Ken Wight watch Fausto Chepil and Patches work the field.

A special Thanks to Dan Philips for his hospitality and billeting the MPDA members who attended the NAVDHA Fun Shoot.

Sadie, Ken Wight's bitch locks up on a chukar.

Ken Approaches Sadie to place a check cord on her, in order to keep her from breaking after the flush (Steadiness Work).

Rear View of Sadie's point.  Notice her intensity! Ken with check cord mucked up my photo!

Erich Mantler, Ken's gunner approaches Sadie to flush the bird.

Erich Flushes the chukar and shoots.  Fortunately he finds his mark before the bird get over the large pond.

Ken releases Sadie from the check cord and sends her into make the retrieve.  Chukar firmly planted in Sadie's grip she promptly returns to Ken.

Sadie on point again, this time in some tall cover.

Handler Error 101! I prematurely whoa'd Patches while she was trying to hold a bird on the move!  Patches waited patiently as I chased the Chukar and flushed the bird.  By the day's end Patches was Steady to Flush, Wing, Shot and Fall!  Now we just need to work on her creeping!

Ken Wight, Doug Nowatski, Eric Ketterer, and Dan Philips  walk with Erich Mantler as Nicky works the field ahead of them.

Erich Teases Nicky with Chukar that he retrieved and was reluctant to give.

Ken Force Fetching Saddie

Ken and Sadie #1

On our first Saturday "training session",  Ken has begun force fetching with Sadie. Notice little  "Force" is actually required.

Saddie now holds dummy as commanded.

Sadie now holds the dummy because she has been asked to do it, not because she wants to hold it.
